Join us in Alaska this October, for the American Planning Association’s 2008 Indigenous Planning Division Conference, Leading Change: Blending Indigenous and Western Planning Tools. This conference will bring together community planners, tribal planners, local leaders, and all other community development professionals to share local experiences, planning tools, and indigenous planning perspectives.

          Johnpaul JonesJohnpaul Jones, FAIA
 Johnpaul Jones has a distinguished 40-year career as an architect and founding partner of the seattle based Jones and Jones Architects and Landscape Architects. Mr. Jones' designs have won widespread acclaim for their reverence for the earth, for paying deep respect to regional architectural traditions and native landscapes, and for heightening understanding of indigenous people and cultures of America. He will be speaking on the topic "Creating Places that Incorporate both the Practical and the Spiritual - Heightening Human Sensitivity to Cultural and Environmental Issues. "

     
      Summit on Tribal Planning

          The conference will include a facilitated summit on tribal planning, a collaborative effort of the Leading Change
          conference, the American Planning Association's Indigenous Planning Division and National Congress of American
          Indian's Policy Research Center.

This year’s conference is hosted by Rural Alaska Community Action Program (RurAL CAP) through partnerships with the American Planning Association’s Alaska and Hawaii Chapters and Indigenous Planning Division, and the State of Alaska Division of Community & Regional Affairs with additional staff support from Agnew::Beck Consulting LLC.  We appreciate the support of these organizations in creating this opportunity.
